Wuxi, a city in the Jiangnan region and East China's Jiangsu province, is not only blessed with scenic landscape, but also a profound and colorful culture.

Embark on the following travel routes to explore the city's unique culture.

Jiangnan Garden-themed travel route

Professor Chen Congzhou at Tongji University speaks highly of the gardens in Wuxi, saying that the city is home to the best modern gardens in China.

Jichang Garden was a must-stop for Emperor Qianlong (1711-99), who visited it eight times throughout his life. This natural wonderland provides a harmonious and vibrant space for visitors.

Former residence of Xue Fucheng is reputed to be the most prominent mansion in the Jiangnan region. The renowned circular building in the mansion is the largest of its kind in China.

Liyuan Park is named after Fan Li, a well-known Chinese politician from over 2,000 years ago. It is said that Fan spent his retirement here with Xi Shi, who is renowned as one of the four great beauties of history. The park is filled with peach trees, sweet-scented osmanthus trees, lotuses, and water lilies.

Yuantouzhu Scenic Area, or "Turtle Head Isle," is one of the world's three major cherry blossom viewing spots when the trees bloom in spring. Here, visitors can also enjoy the beauty and magnificence of Taihu Lake.

Nianhua Bay Scenic Area is renowned as a modern Buddhist resort where visitors can relax, meditate and enjoy the slow-paced monastic lifestyle.

Grand Canal-themed travel route

The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through the downtown area of Wuxi. Along the waterway, visitors can visit the Qingming Bridge Historic and Culture Bloc and Huangbu Islet for sightseeing, the China National Industry and Commerce Museum for Wuxi's industrial and commercial history, and Donglin Academy for the city's academic heritages.
