Wuxi is famous in China as the capital of sweetness, thanks to its sweet cuisine. The initial shock of Wuxi's sweetness gives way to satisfaction after tasting it.

If you visit Wuxi, make sure to check out these must-try treats.

Wuxi-style braised pork ribs in brown sauce are renowned for their deep red hue, aromatic fragrance, and distinctive flavor. Cooked slowly to achieve perfection, these ribs offer a delightful balance of savory and sweet flavors, complemented by a fragrant aroma and a rich, satisfying taste.

In Wuxi, many people's day starts with eating xiaolongmantou, steamed buns filled with fresh, sweet meat that offer a satisfying experience. When enjoying these buns, it's important to gently lift them and dip into vinegar, taking care not to burn your mouth.

A bowl of noodles for breakfast is deeply rooted in Wuxi culture. Many locals prefer dry noodles topped with fragrant lard and soy sauce, often with a generous spoonful of sugar. The toppings are varied, ranging from lard-infused noodles to delicate soy-coated noodles with scallions, served alongside vegetarian chicken, fried fish, or even eel slices, transforming the dish into a more luxurious experience.

Wuxi dry wontons are best known for their sweet flavor, accentuated by a spoonful of lard. Their plump, white shape covered in appealing red sauce makes them absolutely tempting.

Wuxi residents are very fond of glutinous rice balls filled with different ingredients, including red bean paste and black sesame. In spring, they also enjoy fillings like minced Indian aster, dried bean curd, salted egg yolk, and shredded pork.

During summer, it's impossible to resist trying a Yangshan honey peach in Wuxi. A bite uncovers its tender, sweet, and juicy flesh, reminiscent of ice cream, with a strong peach aroma that bursts forth the moment it hits the tongue.
