The 10th "National Excellent Short Plays and Skits Showcase" opened at the Wuxi People's Great Hall in Wuxi on Oct 10.

This year's showcase features a variety of activities, including creative development, live performances, panel discussions, and online streaming. It aims to highlight the achievements in short play and skit creation across the country in recent years, foster exchange and mutual learning between different regions and theatrical genres and support the emergence of outstanding theatrical talent.

The event runs for 10 days, from Oct 10 to 19. A total of 72 outstanding short plays and skits from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, as well as six industry federations, will be performed in 10 sessions at the Wuxi People's Great Hall. The performances encompass over 30 theatrical genres, including traditional opera, drama, skits, puppetry, shadow puppetry, musicals and children's plays.

The closing ceremony and gala will be held on the evening of Oct 19 at the Wuxi People's Great Hall. This event will feature excerpts from excellent productions, local Wuxi specialty programs, and modern stage technology, presenting a spectacular visual feast.
