Wuxi, known as the Pearl of Taihu Lake, sits beside the celebrated lake in southeast Jiangsu, impressed a delegation of 15 visitors from Russian-speaking countries from Dec 13 to 14.

Sponsored by the Jiangsu provincial cultural and tourism bureau, the two-day tour in Wuxi aimed to promote tourism resources in the province to international visitors.

The 15 expats were taken to the city's popular tourist attractions, including the Yuantouzhu scenic area, Three Kingdoms City, the Lingshan Buddhist scenic area, Nianhuawan resort, Huishan Ancient Town, and the Qingming Bridge scenic area.

They also visited many cultural sites displaying works and skills of the city's intangible cultural heritages, such as Huishan clay figurines, Wuxi embroidery and Yixing purple clay.

The Fangong Palace, located inside the Lingshan Buddhist scenic area, amazed the visitors with its majestic views and contemporary exquisite Buddhist artworks.

The visitors favored scenic spots along the Taihu Lake and the Grand Canal, where they got to learn about architecture of Jiangnan style (a cultural term describing the areas on the southern bank of Yangtze River's lower reaches).

In the evening, they got to experience the booming nighttime tourism industry by taking cruise boats to the Grand Canal and savoring local delicacies.

The beauty of Wuxi is implied in the city's natural scenery, culture, people's life and innovation, according to one of the visitors.
