Natives of Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province are all too familiar with the Grand Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also the longest artificial river in the world.

Life on the Grand Canal in China, which was published in December 2022, introduces the 20 cities, including Wuxi, that the canal runs through, such as their scenery, food, and tourist attractions.

Here are the listed elements in Wuxi.

The Chinese National Industry and Commerce Museum is built upon the old buildings of the Maoxin Flour Factory, which was one of the first enterprises founded by renowned brother entrepreneurs Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng. The museum was listed among the most beautiful public cultural spaces in Jiangsu in 2021.

Huishan clay figurines, along with braised spare ribs in brown sauce, fried gluten puff, and Yangshan honey peaches, are four specialties of Wuxi. The handicraft has a history of more than 400 years and was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.

Huangbu Pier is a small island consisting of a small hill covered in thick foliage, sitting upstream of the canal where it enters Wuxi. The island once served as a port where officials coming from North China via the canal would stay.

The "Three Whites" produced in Taihu Lake refer to silver fish, white fish, and white shrimp. The best way to prepare them is boiling, and they can be cooked either together or separately.

The 300-kilometer cycling route around Taihu Lake passes by five cities along the Grand Canal and boasts breathtaking scenery.

Qingmingqiao Culture and Historic Block is best seen at night when its colorful lanterns are lit up. People can also taste authentic Wuxi food and take a boat to enjoy the night views.
