The Bodu River Cultural Center, a new cultural landmark in Xinwu district of Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, recently opened to the public.
Situated on the banks of the Bodu River along Taibo Road, the cultural center has a total construction area of approximately 23,700 square meters.
With a dynamic phoenix-shaped motif, its design features lines that flow smoothly like wings — exuding vibrant tension, resembling a phoenix about to soar high into the heavens.
As Wuxi's first iconic regional fair-faced concrete building, the cultural facility abandons intricate decoration and instead presents itself in its most authentic form of fair-faced concrete, showcasing an unadorned gray tone.
The hollowed-out grille panels add a touch of exquisite charm reminiscent of Jiangnan gardens, while the glass curtain wall enhances the building's transparency and brightness, seamlessly integrating with nature.
Sunlight cascading onto the walls creates an interplay of light and shadow, magnifying the texture of the concrete.
The establishment is not an isolated entity, but integrated with the waterside landscape — forming a four-dimensional garden space of city, architecture, landscape and interiors.
Moreover, the building's contours are designed to cleverly blend into the surrounding natural environment, complementing the water system and greenery of the Bodu River.
