Wuxi Zoo has kicked off its 2026 Animal Kingdom Summer Carnival, a 45‑night extravaganza running from July 10 to Aug 23.

Now in its 15th year, the event transforms the zoo into a vibrant after‑dark destination, offering a mix of live performances, cultural experiences, and exclusive nocturnal wildlife encounters.

The centerpiece is the Global Animal Music Theater, featuring the zoo's mascot characters alongside international troupes from Russia, Ecuador, and Argentina.

The show unfolds in four acts — from a whimsical forest ball and an ocean fantasy with mermaids and bubbles, to a fiery rainforest dance and a finale where the audience joins a massive water‑gun celebration.

Throughout the evening, stilt walkers, clown performers, and animal‑themed characters roam the grounds for impromptu photo opportunities.

For those seeking a more educational adventure, the Night Safari program (8–9:20 pm) takes small groups on a guided tour using thermal‑imaging viewers. Led by veteran zookeepers, visitors can observe rhinos, monkeys, bears, and tigers engaging in their nocturnal routines, while learning about their hidden behaviors after dark.

Beyond the shows and safari, the carnival features a bustling night market with local street food and artisan crafts, plus daily traditional shadow-puppet performances where guests can try manipulating the puppets themselves.

Tickets: 120 yuan for adults, 60 yuan for children (ages 6–18) and seniors (ages 60–69) (valid from 4 pm to 10 pm with last entry before 9 pm).

Free admission for children under 1.4 meters, seniors over 70, active military personnel, and firefighters (valid ID required).
