The Wuxi Chinese Orchestra will perform in Canada this July, following a sold-out European tour that drew critical acclaim.
The ensemble will appear at Ottawa's music festival, present a Dialogue • Bosom Friends concert, and stage a Dream of Jiangnan showcase in Toronto. The tour aims to introduce North American audiences to the rich traditions of Jiangnan-style Chinese folk music.

In February, the orchestra completed a seven-concert tour across four European countries as part of the China Music Spring program. Critics praised the performances for challenging stereotypes, with one reviewer noting the ensemble "gave sound to the misty rains of Jiangnan". The emotional range of traditional instruments captivated the audience.

With an average age under 35, the orchestra blends classical repertoire like Moon Reflects over the Second Spring with innovative arrangements. "Our music is not a museum specimen — it flows in the blood of young people," a representative said.
The Canadian tour underscores Wuxi's cultural ambitions as a designated "UNESCO City of Music", positioning the ensemble as a bridge between Chinese tradition and global audiences.
