Residents of Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, were able to go for an online spring outing during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, which lasted from April 3 to 5, as local cultural facilities launched various online activities.

Videos about the 24 solar terms made by the Wuxi Daily newspaper and Xiju Opera Theater were launched, and two dance dramas and an opera were livestreamed via the official Bilibili account of the Xiju Opera Theater.

Flowers are an essential part of any spring outing, so the Wuxi Museum moved its special Orchid Exhibition and other flower exhibitions online so that netizens could admire them along with cultural relics and creative products.

The Wuxi Music and Literature Society made a music video about the city's cherry blossom scenery so residents could admire them from the comfort of their homes.

Moreover, Chinese people will visit the tombs of their ancestors around Qingming to pay respect to the deceased. Most families will visit cemeteries with offerings, clean up weeds around the tombs of their ancestors, and pray for family prosperity.

This year, regular tomb sweeping activities were moved online, and people can read famous lines from ancient poems to remember their ancestors.

As of April 6, Wuxi had had seven confirmed COVID-19 cases and one new asymptomatic case. Public transport in the city has been suspended and residents have been instructed to stay at home and wait for nucleic acid tests to be conducted in their residential communities since March 31.
