A delegation from Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province visited Macao on Feb 23 to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two places in culture and tourism.

Cultural and tourism exchanges between the two sides commenced 20 years ago when the then cultural bureaus of Wuxi and Macao established friendly relations, according to Jiang Yunjie, director of the Wuxi Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting and Tourism, at a meeting with representatives from the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Jiang expects further exchanges and cooperation with Macao in cultural innovation, cultural relics protection and utilization, public cultural space building, art performance, as well as the production of television series and films.

She also invited the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR to gather local companies to attend the annual China Wuxi International Culture and Art Industries Fair.

Cheng Chiming, acting deputy director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR, hopes that the Wuxi delegation will learn more about the multi-culture in Macao and that the two places will have more exchanges and cooperation in cultural industry, art performance, and exhibition.

Cheng noted that Macao supports the development of the film industry and encourages filmmaking teams from other places to shoot films in the city.

Jiang added that Wuxi is home to Wuxi Studios, which is home to a number of postproduction companies that worked on American and European blockbusters. She expects more cooperation with Macao in the production of TV series and films in the future.

Travel agencies from Wuxi and Macao also signed an agreement the same day to boost bilateral tourist flow.
