Lantern Festival brings vibrancy to Wuxi

Wuxi, Jiangsu province, offers a unique Lantern Festival experience with a series of lively celebrations. This guide will lead you to the most authentic experiences in the city.

Qingming Bridge Square

At Qingming Bridge Square, enjoy traditional folk performances and enchanting Jiangnan melodies. This Lantern Festival night, you don't have to travel far – the most beautiful scenery is right by Qingming Bridge.

Changjing Ancient Street

As moonlight spills across the cobblestones, Changjing Ancient Street transforms into a theater that transcends time. Here, you'll find live demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage and engaging parent-child activities.

Pegasus Leisure Park

The Pegasus Leisure Park's lantern show features five core lantern scenes. Each lantern tells a story, and each play of light and shadow is a legend. Strolling through, you feel as if you've traveled through millennia.

Yixing Cultural Center

An immersive feast of traditional Chinese culture unfolds at the Yixing Cultural Center. Amidst pavilions and terraces, young people in hanfu walk with lanterns, and the sounds of the guqin (a plucked seven-string instrument) resonate from the waterside stage. Here, you're not just a visitor but a participant in this elegant gathering.

Dangkou Ancient Town

Want to experience the Lantern Festival as the ancients did? Head to Dangkou Ancient Town. Participate in traditional games like touhu (pitch-pot), chuiwan (a precursor to golf), and cuju (an ancient Chinese ball game) for free. As night falls, the spectacular sight of iron flowers showering like a galaxy will leave you in awe.

Taibo Temple Scenic Area

Amid the blue bricks and gray tiles of Taibo Temple, listen to expert storytellers recount the millennia-old history of the Lantern Festival. Then roll up your sleeves and, under a master's guidance, make your own bowl of tangyuan (sweet glutinous rice balls). When these steaming balls are ready, one bite will bring sweetness to your tongue and warmth to your heart.
